Irish Deaf Society

Irish Deaf Society:

The Irish Deaf Society is the largest Deaf-led organisation in Ireland working with both the Deaf and hard of hearing community. Our work focuses on issues such as achieving equality and access for Deaf people.

Irish Sign Language (ISL) is the language of the Deaf community in Ireland. ISL is a visual, spatial language with its own distinct grammar. It is not only a language of the hands but also of the face and body.
