International Day of Persons with Disabilities:

The Department for Communities and Disability Action are joining forces to host an online event to recognise and celebrate the United Nations International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

The event takes place on Thursday 3 December 2020, from 2pm – 3pm, via the Zoom online platform.

This year’s theme is “Building Back Better: toward a disability-inclusive, accessible and sustainable post COVID-19 World”.

The Minister for Communities will open the event, which will feature a presentation by members of the Disability Strategy Expert Advisory Panel. They will explain the work they are doing to make recommendations to the Minister for Communities on the Executive’s new Disability Strategy.

Following the presentation the Panel will answer a selection of questions. Details of how to submit a question will be sent to you by email once you have registered.

Participants from Disability Action’s ONSIDE Project will share some of their personal experiences of taking part in the Project.

Mr Ronnie Armour, Northern Ireland Civil Service Disability Champion will close the proceedings.

The event will have ISL and BSL sign language interpreters in attendance.
