Prosper Fingal was established in 1978 by an extraordinary group of visionary parents and friends of people with disabilities, namely the Fingal Association for the Handicapped. That Association, with its objective of establishing a day service for local adults with an intellectual disability, drew knowledge and support from all parts of North Dublin. The result was the formation of Prosper Fingal.
Today, Prosper Fingal is an integral part of the Fingal community, with services located throughout the county. It is a not-for-profit organisation, with charitable status, that provides social care services on behalf of the State. It is part of Prosper Group which provides services and supports to adults with an intellectual disability across County Fingal and County Meath.
Today, close on 300 individuals avail of Prosper Fingal services, which includes Day, Residential, Respite and Clinical supports. It is funded through an annual Service Arrangement contract with the HSE. This contract sets out the quantum and quality of services expected and the governance obligations on Prosper Fingal as a commissioned service provider.
