PRISM (Parents Resource Information Support Mentoring) was founded by We are a proactive group of parents with children with an Autism Spectrum Condition or other neuro-developmental condition (ADHD, ADD, NVLD, Dyspraxia, PDD-NOS, Retts Syndrome, Asperger’s Syndrome, Fragile X ..) living in the Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown (DLR) area of south county Dublin. PRISM aims to provide information and support for families and carergivers in a confidential and safe setting. Our vision is that families living in DLR will have access to a quality family support service run by parents with shared experiences to guide and advise them through the ups and downs of parenting across the autistic spectrum.
PRISM Dlr became a registered charity (Registered Charity No. 20142711) in January 2018.
The aims of PRISM are:
To provide information and support for parents / carers in a confidential and safe setting
To provide monthly support meeting for parents / carers of preschool and school-age children as well as adolescent and adults with an Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
To provide a specialised program of talks and workshops by relevant professionals throughout the year
To link in with other support groups, agencies and organisations to provide members with an up to date schedule of relevant dates and events
To advocate for members and their families
To promote autism awareness in the community
To provide members with a useful monitored, closed Facebook group and website
To provide a confidential dedicated phone line for new and existing members
To provide affordable therapeutic activities for members and their families (Lego club, book club, art therapy, drama therapy, music therapy, social skills groups, secure bully-free Minecraft server, teen youth club, yoga, mindfulness and emotional regulation activities).
